OUR STORY

Head Chef Steve Wakeman is our restaurant’s biggest champion and also harshest critic of this, doggedly determined to make sure that our customers can trust in us to rigorously oversee every stage of every ingredient you’ll find on your plate. We are proud and passionate about our dishes, taking careful consideration right from production and sourcing, through to preparation and eventually presentation.

At FSK we truly believe in only using the best, freshest produce. It is extremely important to us that we ensure the domination of sustainable agriculture, that we support the renaissance of traditional farming practices and the promotion of seasonal and community-supported agriculture. At FSK, we use only the freshest ingredients and the most responsible family farms and producers. Steve and his chefs personally select all of the kitchen’s produce, so he can ensure the consistency, integrity and quality of each stage in the development and preparation process. Particularly when it comes to our meat and fish, we are obsessively concerned with reviving and preserving practices (and dishes) that have long since fallen under the wheels of big business and mass production. Most of our fruit and vegetables are heirloom and open-pollinated. We buy our produce directly from our farms and farmers – all of whom share our concern for animal husbandry, small-farm economics, food safety and seasonality. These values produce navigable improvements in nutritional integrity, freshness and flavour – as well as some seriously original and inventive menus. The talents of our chefs and our front of house staff – and their knowledge and enthusiasm – help make FSK one of the finest steak restaurants in Birmingham . We are extremely proud of what we do, and of why we do it.

HISTORY, IN THE MAKING

There are few things better than walking into a restaurant and surrounding yourself with heady foodie aromas. So, at FSK we built our restaurant around the heart of any good eatery – the kitchen!  Our open-kitchen features a unique wood-fired grill, the Charcoa, which will set your taste-buds alight upon arrival. FSK Birmingham can accommodate 120 covers, but on Friday and Saturday evenings, it is not uncommon for us to welcome as many as 200 guests! Our management and staff have overseen the creation of a unique and inventive cocktail list, which can be enjoyed at the table or at the bar. The careful design of our building means there are no ‘cold’ spots and everyone is immersed in our trademark buzzing atmosphere.

Our menu features a unique range of Steak and Fish dishes, together with The Butchers Block, on which customers can choose their own cut of a range of 28 – 38-day hung sides of beef.  The day-boat fish menu is sourced and written daily by Steve and Derrick and there are a range of supplemental dishes to accommodate even the most diverse palettes and appetites. On Sundays we offer superbly roasted joints, with homemade Yorkshire Puddings, honey-roasted root vegetables, the finest roast potatoes and a cauliflower cheese to die for. Our sauces are products of obsession – for example, Steve’s Sunday Gravy takes three days to prepare and is so beloved customers have asked for it to be served in a mug!

In addition, we also offer a range of sensational desserts, side dishes and olives so tasty, you’d think you were in the Mediterranean.

Bar & Basement

“No great restaurant can exist without an equally brilliant bar – FSK is no exception. With a fabulous assortment of Prosecco, cocktails and beers to appeal to all pockets and special offers over the weekends on bottomless Prosecco you are guaranteed a special fun night out”.

The Basement is FSK’s very own on-site party venue space, tucked away within our flagship business. Striking a balance between comfort and opulence, warmth and excitement, our space is available for both private and part-private hire to be used in everything from a wedding reception to a corporate meal/get-together. Expansive (but most certainly not expensive – with The Basement there are no booking fees and no minimum spend at the bar!), The Basement comes equipped with private booths, a fully-stocked bar and room for approximately 200 guests.

The Basement’s dance floor, DJ decks and fully adaptable tables and seating make it the perfect space to host your own private party event. What’s more, The Basement forms part of our Elite Party Venues package, which also utilises our sister venues M Club and The Texan, meaning your event can run the whole day through!

Our Outdoor Terrace

The Terrace is FSK’s beautifully appointed outdoor space , offering scenic seating for up to 40 guests. Customers can eat and drink at all times, in all weathers, with heating (and some rather plush blankets provided by our friends at Moët) ensuring your comfort as you enjoy unique waterside views of the 18th century Birmingham and Fazeley Canal.
